Young people are the future of every nation and the inheritors of the earth tomorrow. This statement holds true in every sense. Youth make up over 30% of the population in our region, and can have a critical impact on it.
I'm in my twenties, so I know what I'm talking about. I have a son. I have friends with children. And everywhere I go — every event, every gathering, even the last gala I attended — the majority of the people were under the age of 35. Imagine that!
So, who is doing what to help develop the new and growing generations? I can name eight different organisations that are working to develop young people — and you bet I will. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Entrepreneurship Program for Innovation in the Caribbean, TIC Americas, CTA International, the Capital Youth Empowerment Program (CYEP), the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), the Bank of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (BOSVG), and the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) are, off the top of my head, organisations that reach out to the youths.
I have a lot more to say on this, but you'll follow up in the upcoming post — I've already begun working on it. See you soon!
