Being True to Your Purpose

The global pandemic has rendered many professionals uneasy and uncertain about their career paths, and many are now clamouring desperately to grab at any and every opportunity that arises. This, of course — while perfectly understandable — is a potentially calamitous state of mind that we should all avoid as best as our individual circumstances permit.
My prayer for each of us today is that, regardless of the chaos around us, we never lose sight of the importance of pursuing and accepting professional opportunities purely on the basis of the mutual value added. Our sense of humanity should also compel us to leave room for those better suited and in need of the opportunity. If you cannot see yourself as a good fit for an organisation, nor the alignment of such a move with your desired career path, then it is most likely not for you.
I believe with all my heart that, even amidst this pandemic and the sweeping fallout that has ensued across sectors and industries, we can all remain true to our purpose — our single most valuable contribution to society when needed most. Being true to your purpose is about doing what you are best at, while affording others the space and opportunity to do the same. This is precisely how we are going to make it through this pandemic.
