Because Someone Gave Us a Chance

There are moments in business that do more than open a door. They help you keep going.

As JSR Communications continues to mark 11 years of service, I have been thinking about the journey that brought us here. I have also been thinking about the people and organisations that gave us a chance when the business was still young, uncertain, and trying to find its place.

One of those moments came in 2017, when I was named among the OECS 30 Under 30 Entrepreneurs. The OECS recognised 30 young entrepreneurs from across its Member States, and the winners qualified for support services to help them structure and scale their businesses. I was one of the winners from St Vincent and the Grenadines.

Looking back, I can say honestly that I may have quit if that opportunity had not come when it did.

At the time, JSR Communications was still growing and still proving itself. The recognition gave me more than a certificate. It gave me confidence. It reminded me that the work had value. It also helped open the door to one of JSR’s first major contracts.

That kind of support matters.

JSR Communications did not begin as the communications and digital company many people know today. The business was established in 2015 and started by offering messenger and courier services before expanding into social media management and other communication solutions. You can read more in our earlier post, Exploring the Journey of JSR Communications.

Over the years, the business continued to change. We moved into marketing, media production, public relations, website services, digital solutions, consulting, advertising, and other areas of communication. The services changed, but the purpose remained the same: to help people and businesses move forward.

That is why our anniversary giveaway was important to me. Yes, it was personal.

It was not just a promotion. It was a small way of remembering what it felt like when someone believed in JSR Communications. It was also a small way of giving support to another local business.

We are pleased to recognise Valupak as the winner of the JSR Communications 11th Anniversary Giveaway. They will receive a XCD 250 Anniversary Credit towards an eligible JSR Communications service. Full details, eligibility requirements, and terms are on our Anniversary Page: https://www.jsrsvg.com/anniversary.

Valupak is a local business serving the community of Questelles, and we are happy to celebrate them as part of this anniversary moment. Their win reminds us that business growth is not only about what we build for ourselves. It is also about the value we help create around us. Valupak, located near the Questelles Evangelical Church is opened Monday – Saturday 8 AM – 8 PM and closed on a Sunday.

In our recent anniversary reflection, 11 Years Completed. Year 12 Begins Today, we spoke about the journey of JSR Communications and the belief that has carried us from the beginning. That belief still guides us today.

As we enter another year, JSR Communications continues to grow, learn, and adapt. We are not where we started, and we are not yet where we intend to be. But we are still here. That alone is something to be grateful for.

To every client, partner, supporter, friend, and organisation that has believed in JSR Communications over the years, thank you. Some of you gave us work. Some gave advice. Some referred us. Some shared a post. Some simply encouraged us at the right time.

Those things matter.

Eleven years later, I understand business growth differently. It is not only about income, visibility, or expansion. Sometimes growth is being able to look back and recognise the hands that helped you stand. Sometimes it is remembering that someone once gave you a chance, and choosing not to forget it.

Congratulations again to Valupak, and thank you to everyone who participated in our anniversary giveaway.

JSR Communications continues to move forward.

And we remain committed to helping others do the same.
